Atul was born in Amritsar (India) and studied Information and Communication Technology at DA-IICT (Gandhinagar, India) and Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at ETH Zurich. In his master thesis in the lab of Prof. Niko Beerenwinkel, he performed network analysis of gene mutations in cancer. Intermittently, Atul spent ~18 months working in digital signal processing domain at Mindtree Ltd ( India, 2006-07) and Phonak AG (Switzerland, 2009). In July 2010, he joined the lab of Prof. Aebersold to pursue his doctoral studies in Computational Cancer Biology.
