Christina was born in Lich (Germany) and studied Chemistry at the Philipps-University in Marburg (Germany). Her Master's thesis she performed in the lab of Prof. Marahiel, where she investigated a segmental-isotopic labelling strategy of multi-domain proteins using expressed protein ligation. During her PhD in the group of Prof. Henning Mootz (Technical University Dortmund) Christina developed a general technique for the N-terminal modification of target proteins based on protein splicing, a posttranslational reaction catalyzed by a class of proteins called inteins. Christina joined the lab of Prof. Aebersold in March 2009 and her current work focuses on the identification and quantification of phosphopeptides using Selected Reaction Monitoring (SRM).
