Fabian studied Biochemistry at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany. In 2013, he received his BSc degree with his thesis about NMR-based binding studies of Rheb with small organic ligands. During his MSc in Biochemistry he focused on protein chemistry and finally graduated in 2015. For his Master´s thesis he joined the group of Prof. Katrin Marcus at the Medical Proteome-Center in Bochum, Germany. Here, he worked on the identification of body fluids by protein mass spectrometry in a collaborative project with the forensic science authorities. After development and optimization of an MS-compatible sample preparation method for body fluid traces, he characterized and validated protein markers for the identification by LC-MS/MS.
During his PhD in the wlab he will drive the development of the ligand-receptor capture (LRC) technology towards new application spaces and the characterization of dynamic protein-protein interactions.
