Dr. Alexander Schäfer
Alex studied Molecular Medicine at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He moved on to the Research Unit Protein Science at the Helmholtz Center Munich for his PhD under the supervision of Professor Marius Ueffing in 2010. His doctoral studies were focused on proteomic signatures in insulin resistant liver, through which he found a link between hepatic insulin sensitivity and Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids and received his PhD in 2015.
Alex joined the Aebersold lab in November 2015 as a postdoc in order to work on a joint project with the Swiss company Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He currently employs phosphoproteomics to study Endothelin signaling in cancer.
